Community & Giving Back
At FWDG, furniture is what we do — but community is who we are. Since 1972, our family-owned business has been proud to call Beaufort and the Lowcountry home, and giving back to the people and organizations that make this area so special has always been at the heart of what we do. From supporting local nonprofits and schools to keeping our neighbors warm in the winter, we believe that a small business can make a big difference.
Over the years, FWDG and the Mark family have been honored to receive recognitions including the Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year, Businessman of the Year, and the Martin Luther King Humanitarian of the Year — awards that reflect not just our business, but our deep commitment to this community.

Season of Giving
Every year, FWDG's Season of Giving invites the Beaufort community to come together and support the local nonprofits doing incredible work right here in the Lowcountry. During the campaign, the public is encouraged to nominate and vote for their favorite organizations, shining a spotlight on the causes that matter most to our neighbors.
At the end of the campaign, the nonprofits with the most votes receive donations from FWDG ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 per organization — real dollars going directly to the people making a difference in our community. It's one of our favorite traditions, and it grows bigger every year.
Most recent Season of Giving (September 2025): FWDG donated more than $55,000 to local nonprofits, with a $10,000 donation going to the organization that received the most overall community votes.

Annual Coat Drive
When the Lowcountry temperatures start to drop each November and December, FWDG steps in to help keep our community warm. Our Annual Coat Drive collects new and gently used coats of all sizes — for children, teens, and adults — and donates them to local organizations that distribute them directly to those in need.
This tradition is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways we show our commitment to caring for our Beaufort neighbors. Every coat donated offers warmth, comfort, and a reminder that someone cares.
Most recent Coat Drive (December 2024): FWDG collected and donated more than 275 coats to the community. We expanded to six pickup locations throughout the Lowcountry, reaching from Hardeeville to Hilton Head Island.
Join us each November and December by dropping off your coat donations at FWDG or one of our partner locations. Together, we can make sure no one goes cold this winter.

Restock My Classroom Giveaway
At FWDG, we believe every student deserves a classroom stocked with the supplies they need to learn and grow. That's why each July, we host our Restock My Classroom Giveaway — a community-driven campaign where you can nominate and vote for local Lowcountry schools to receive funding for classroom supplies.
Each year, we award a randomly selected school from the community nominees, along with recognizing the school that receives the most public votes. It's our way of supporting the teachers and students across the Lowcountry who are shaping the future of our community.
Most recent Restock My Classroom Giveaway (July 2025): FWDG donated $5,000 to Robert Smalls Leadership Academy, the randomly selected winner from community nominees. An additional $1,000 was donated to Okatie Elementary School, which received the most community votes during the voting period.
Nominate your school each summer and cast your vote. Follow us on Facebook and join our Email Club to get updates on all of our charitable events.
More Than a Furniture Store
When you shop at FWDG, you're supporting more than just a local business. Here's what your support helps make possible right here in the Lowcountry:
- Supporting local families
FWDG proudly employs more than 30 team members, and your purchases help support their families and livelihoods right here in the Beaufort area. - Investing in our community
FWDG contributes tens of thousands of dollars in taxes each year, helping fund the county services that benefit all of our residents. - Giving where it counts
Beyond our annual campaigns, FWDG regularly contributes money and merchandise to local and national organizations throughout the year. - Protecting the environment
We keep our area green by recycling all cardboard packing materials, keeping them out of local landfills.
Thank you for supporting this small business since 1972. Every purchase you make helps us continue giving back to the community we love.
