How Custom Orders Work at FWDG

Our custom order process is designed to be straightforward and enjoyable. Your Design Consultant walks with you through every decision so you always feel confident about what you're choosing — and excited about what's coming.

1. Start With Inspiration

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you've seen a sofa style you love but want it in a different fabric. Maybe you need a dining table in a specific size to fit your space. Maybe you want a finish that matches the rest of your bedroom. Whatever your starting point, bring it in — photos, Pinterest boards, fabric swatches, rough sketches — and we'll take it from there.

If you're not sure where to start, that's perfectly fine too. Our Design Consultants can guide you through our showroom and help you explore styles, shapes, and options until something clicks.

2. Choose Your Details

This is the fun part. Depending on the piece, you'll be able to select from a wide range of customization options:

• Upholstery fabrics
  Browse hundreds of fabric options, from performance textiles built for everyday life to luxurious designer fabrics that make a statement. Our team will help you understand durability, feel, and how each option works in your space.
• Leather options

3. We Place the Order

Once you've finalized your selections, our team places the order directly with the manufacturer. We handle all the details — specifications, materials, timelines — so you don't have to manage a thing. Your Design Consultant will keep you informed on the status of your order from start to finish.

4. Delivery to Your Door

When your custom piece arrives at our Beaufort warehouse, our team inspects it for quality before scheduling your delivery. With our affordable white glove service, we'll bring it inside, place it in the room of your choice, and make sure everything looks exactly the way you envisioned. Custom Order Timelines

Because custom furniture is made to your specifications, it takes a bit longer than purchasing an in-stock item — but the result is worth the wait. Timelines vary depending on the brand, the complexity of the order, and current manufacturer lead times.

Your FWDG team member will provide an estimated delivery timeline when you place your order and keep you updated if anything changes along the way. In general, most custom upholstery orders arrive within 6 to 12 weeks, though some brands and products may be faster or slower.

Custom Orders & Our Store Policies

Here are a few important things to know before placing a custom order:

• Payment
  All custom orders must be paid in full or financed at the time of purchase.
• Cancellation window
  We wait 24 hours before submitting your order to the manufacturer. During that initial 24-hour window, you can still cancel. Once the order is placed with the manufacturer, it becomes non-cancellable.
• Returns
  Custom ordered items that have been delivered may be returned within 24 hours of delivery for in-store credit, less a 30% restocking/service charge. Delivery fees are not refundable. For full details, visit our Returns page
• Order storage
  If your home isn't ready when your custom piece arrives, we'll hold it free of charge for up to 90 days. After that, a $100 monthly storage fee applies. See our Store Policies page for details.
